Respite Care

Resources listed are not endorsed by DSAWM, but are a list of options that are available. If you know of additional West Michigan resources, please let us know at director@dsawm.org.

Respite care provides the primary caregiver(s) with temporary relief from caregiving, while their loved one continues to receive care in a safe environment. Respite services can take place in your home or at day centers or overnight facilities.

National Respite Network
Network 180 Directory Network 180 is the mental health authority for Kent county and maintains a directory of local providers, including respite 
Michigan Parents of Children with Down Syndrome Facebook Group an online community for parents and caregivers to ask questions and share experiences and recommendations

Day & Overnight Programs/Camps can often provide short-term respite which accompanies a structured activity program for a group of individuals with cognitive and/or physical disabilities.
