World Down Syndrome Day
World Down Syndrome Day is March 21st, 3/21, in honor of the third copy of the 21st chromosome. On this day, individuals with Down syndrome and advocates across the world raise public awareness and advocate for the rights, inclusion, and well-being of those with Down syndrome. And don’t be surprised if you see people wearing brightly colored or mismatched socks on World Down Syndrome Day. The #lotsofsocks campaign encourages participants to wear their funkiest socks to get people talking and asking questions about Down syndrome. DSAWM created a flyer that you can share at school or work to encourage people to rock their socks!
At DSAWM, we’re celebrating all month long with awareness events, fundraisers, and exciting activities! Check out everything that’s coming up.**
**Due to coronavirus concerns, several events listed have since been cancelled including the Kzoo MNO Family Day event and DSAWM’s Rock Your Socks Dance. We encourage everyone to still rock their socks and celebrate World Down Syndrome Day at school, work, and in the community. Be sure to share photos of your celebration and advocacy with us so we can all be together in spirit!
