THREADS - Together Empowering Adults with Down Syndrome

 (Support Group for Teens and Young Adults in Transitions and their Parents)

To support these families and young adults, the Association has formed a new support group to explore the issues pertinent to these families including:

  • Housing
  • Job Opportunities
  • Funding Resources
  • Social/Leisure Activities
  • Continuing Education
  • Self-Advocacy
  • Person Centered Planning
  • .... and Much More
  • Parent meetings are generally held every other month on the first Monday of the month at Kent ISD Educational Building (2930 Knapp NE) from 6:30-8:30pm.  Young adults and teens are invited to accompany their parents for supervised social activities. 

  • Social Events for Teens and Young Adults are held monthly (September-May).

Membership in THREADS is included in the annual membership dues paid to the DSAWM.  For an annual fee of $20.00 families of children without Down syndrome are welcome to join this group.  Access to other therapeutic programs and funding offered by the DSAWM is available only to  parents and families of children with Down syndrome  who are current members of the Association.
