Programs - 2008 Math Tutoring ***NEW***

The Math Program supports the teaching of math skills to individuals with Down syndrome allowing the learner to be as independent as possible with daily living skills.

Math Tutoring

The Program The program uses the book “Teaching Math to People with Down Syndrome and Other Hands-On Learners” by DeAnna Horstmeier, PhD (Woodbine House, 2004). The book focuses on teaching essential, basic math – addition and subtraction - and concepts about time, money, counting, measuring and more so the learners can be as independent as possible with daily living skills. This effective, hands-on program helps preschoolers to adults master basic skills such as calculator use, measurements, time, counting, computation and more.
