How to Help

The Down Syndrome Association of West Michigan cannot achieve its mission without the generous support of our community.  If you are interested in supporting the DSAWM and promoting the interests of individuals with Down syndrome, there are many ways for you to help.

Volunteer

The Down Syndrome Association of West Michigan cannot effectively serve the needs of our families and community without a strong base of volunteer leadership and support. If you are interested in donating your time to the DSAWM, you may choose from a number of volunteer opportunities, ranging from one-time projects to on-going working committees. Make a Financial Contribution

Are you interested in making a financial contribution to the Down Syndrome Association of West Michigan?  Click here to donate online.  You may also send cash, check or money order to the DSAWM offices, or pay with a credit card over the phone.

General Contributions

You don't have to wait for a special occasion or event to donate to the Down Syndrome Association of West Michigan!  If you have a little extra pocket money lying around, or if you are simply looking for a worthy cause to support, make a financial contribution to the DSAWM.

Honoring Contributions

Pay tribute to a special person in your life or celebrate a special occasion, such as a birthday, wedding, graduation or anniversary, with a donation to the Down Syndrome Association of West Michigan.  A letter will be sent to the person(s) you are honoring, explaining that a gift has been made.

Memorial Contributions

Making a gift in memory of a loved one is a wonderful way to express sympathy over his or her passing and support a cause dear to his or her heart.  Memorial contributions made to the Down Syndrome Association of West Michigan will be identified in the DSA Press newsletter, and a letter will be sent to the deceased's family to notify them of your gift.

Board-Restricted Fund

The Down Syndrome Achievement Fund was established to provide a permanent source of principal, in order that funds would be available in the future for individuals with Down syndrome and their families in West Michigan.  The Fund is a separate and identifiable fund of cash, securities and other assets, and is a board-restricted fund within the general assets of the DSAWM.

In-Kind Contributions

In-kind contributions of goods and services are welcomed by the Down Syndrome Association of West Michigan.  These contributions are a significant means of supporting the DSAWM and freeing a larger percentage of our funds to be spent directly on the needs of our membership. Examples of in-kind contributions are design or printing services, office supplies and equipment, advertising space, food and beverages, books, etc.

In-kind contributions to the DSAWM are tax-deductible under state and federal laws. You will receive a receipt acknowledging your contribution of goods or services, with a value as determined by the DSAWM.
