Step right up and join the DSAWM for the 2012 Step UP for Down Syndrome Walk! The Step UP for Down Syndrome (SUDS) Walk, similar to the Buddy Walk® in concept and format, is supported by Down syndrome organizations across the globe as a way to celebrate and promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.
Celebrate
Invite your families, friends, co-workers, classmates and others to celebrate National Down Syndrome Awareness Month at the Step UP for Down Syndrome Walk! Participate in the non-competitive walk, and take part in all the family fun activities available to participants (partial list at right).
Educate
The Step UP for Down Syndrome Walk is the perfect opportunity for the West Michigan community to witness the talents and abilities of persons with Down syndrome! Help educate people about Down syndrome and break the myths and stereotypes that hinder individuals with Down syndrome as they strive to be accepted and appreciated by the community.
Validate
Your participation affirms and validates the value of our children and nourishes and sustains our families! When you walk with us and invite others to join you, you introduce your family, friends, co-workers, classmates and the West Michigan community to the promise, possibility and potential of all people with Down syndrome.
Donate
Donate to the Step UP for Down Syndrome Walk, and help the DSAWM continue providing vital services for individuals with Down syndrome and their families! Your donation will fund vital support programs and services that support lifelong opportunities for people with Down syndrome in West Michigan.
Participate
An easy way to participate in Step UP for Down Syndrome is to volunteer your time! Numerous volunteers are required to help set up on the morning of the event, package t-shirts for teams and families prior to the Walk, distribute posters to local businesses and much, much more.
