The Buddy Walk began in 1995 to bring together a wide range of concerned individuals to reach out to friends, family and co-workers to promote awareness, advocacy and inclusion for people with Down syndrome.

The Buddy Walk has grown from 17 walks in 1995 to over 270 in 2007.  Over 225,000 individuals walked in 2007 and raised in excess of $9,000,00 to support national and local Down syndrome groups like the DSAWM.

We estimate over 800 individuals raising over $65,500 attended the 2007 West Michigan Buddy Walk. We want to thank our members, their families, friends, and supporters for attending the walk and supporting the mission of the Association.
